This drug combination is a bismuth-containing quadruple therapy (BQT) regimen investigated by Qilu Hospital of Shandong University for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection, specifically in patients with a penicillin allergy. The regimen consists of tegoprazan, a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) that provides rapid and sustained gastric acid suppression; bismuth potassium citrate, which exerts direct antibacterial effects and protects the gastric mucosa; cefuroxime, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic; and levofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. By combining a potent acid suppressor with three antimicrobial agents, the therapy aims to overcome bacterial resistance and achieve high eradication rates in a population where standard penicillin-based treatments are contraindicated.
