Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tektion is a veterinary medicated anti-parasitic shampoo formulated with ivermectin (0.1% w/v) as its active ingredient. Developed by Aranex Animal Health and manufactured by Percos India, Tektion is designed for topical administration to control and protect dogs, cats, and livestock from ectoparasitic infestations, including ticks, fleas, lice, mites, maggots, and flies. Ivermectin, a macrocyclic lactone, exerts its antiparasitic effect by binding to glutamate-gated chloride channels in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells. This binding increases membrane permeability to chloride ions, leading to hyperpolarization, flaccid paralysis, and the eventual death of the parasites. The shampoo is formulated to be pH-balanced, paraben-free, alcohol-free, and lick-safe, promoting skin hygiene and relieving itching and irritation associated with infestations.
