Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TELAT-40 H is a fixed-dose combination tablet developed by Apostle Remedies for the treatment of hypertension. It contains telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic. Telmisartan works by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the type-1 angiotensin II receptor (AGTR1), leading to vasodilation and reduced aldosterone secretion. Hydrochlorothiazide inhibits the solute carrier family 12 member 3 (SLC12A3) sodium-chloride cotransporter in the renal distal convoluted tubules, promoting the excretion of sodium and water to reduce blood volume. Together, these complementary mechanisms provide synergistic blood pressure reduction in patients whose hypertension is not adequately controlled by monotherapy.
