Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Telfirst is a branded generic cardiovascular medication developed and marketed by Sinsan Pharmaceuticals. Its active ingredient is telmisartan, a non-peptide angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It is primarily indicated for the management of hypertension (high blood pressure) and the treatment of heart failure. By selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland, Telfirst inhibits vasoconstriction and the release of aldosterone, leading to reduced blood pressure and decreased risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke. It is also used to protect kidney function in patients with diabetes. The drug is available in 20 mg and 40 mg tablet formulations.
