Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Teliglidine fumarate is a novel, highly selective small molecule alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist developed by Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals for the management of postoperative pain and sedation. Functioning similarly to dexmedetomidine, it acts on alpha-2 adrenoceptors in the central nervous system to inhibit the release of norepinephrine, thereby producing analgesic, sedative, and sympatholytic effects without significant respiratory depression. The drug is primarily being investigated for its efficacy in providing postoperative analgesia, particularly in patients undergoing gastrointestinal tumor surgery, where it is evaluated for its ability to reduce pain scores and maintain hemodynamic stability during the first 24 hours after surgery.
