Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Telipro AM is a fixed-dose combination antihypertensive medication developed and marketed by Docventures Pharmaceuticals. It contains two active small molecule ingredients: telmisartan (40 mg) and amlodipine (5 mg). Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively binds to the AT1 receptor, inhibiting the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB) that inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to peripheral vasodilation. Together, these mechanisms work synergistically to lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels and reducing peripheral resistance, making it easier for the heart to pump blood around the body.
