Telitan-H

Telitan-H is a fixed-dose combination oral tablet developed by Meddroid Pharmaceuticals for the management of hypertension. It combines telmisartan, a non-peptide angiotensin II receptor antagonist, with hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic. Telmisartan selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in many tissues, such as vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland, which inhibits vasoconstriction and the release of aldosterone. Hydrochlorothiazide acts on the renal distal convoluted tubule to inhibit the thiazide-sensitive sodium-chloride transporter (NCC), increasing the excretion of sodium and water. Together, these mechanisms provide a synergistic reduction in blood pressure compared to either component alone.
