Overview
Telmikshi-AM is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product marketed by Makshi Healthcare for the management of hypertension. It contains two active antihypertensive agents: telmisartan and amlodipine. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively binds to the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, inhibiting the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II. Amlodipine is a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB) that inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to peripheral vasodilation and a reduction in systemic vascular resistance. By combining these two mechanisms, Telmikshi-AM provides a synergistic blood pressure-lowering effect, making it suitable for patients whose hypertension is not adequately controlled by monotherapy.
