Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TelmiPrime BS is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) medication developed by Primus Remedies for the treatment of hypertension. It contains two active pharmaceutical ingredients: telmisartan, an angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor blocker, and bisoprolol, a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker. Telmisartan lowers blood pressure by blocking the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), specifically preventing angiotensin II from binding to AT1 receptors, which results in vasodilation and reduced aldosterone secretion. Bisoprolol complements this by reducing heart rate and cardiac output through the selective blockade of beta-1 adrenergic receptors in the heart. This dual mechanism of action provides comprehensive management of high blood pressure by targeting both systemic vascular resistance and cardiac performance. It is an oral, small-molecule therapy approved for the management of hypertension.
