telmisartan + ezetimibe

DWJ1575 is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy developed by Daewoong Pharmaceutical for the management of patients with co-existing hypertension and dyslipidemia. The product combines telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), with ezetimibe, a selective cholesterol absorption inhibitor. Telmisartan lowers blood pressure by selectively antagonizing the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, which results in vasodilation and reduced secretion of aldosterone. Ezetimibe reduces plasma cholesterol levels by inhibiting the Niemann-Pick C1-like 1 (NPC1L1) protein, a key transporter responsible for the absorption of dietary and biliary cholesterol in the small intestine. By addressing both blood pressure and lipid levels in a single oral solid dosage form, DWJ1575 aims to reduce pill burden and improve medication adherence in patients with multiple cardiovascular risk factors.
