Telmisartan + S-amlodipine is a fixed-dose combination of two antihypertensive agents used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that works by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the type 1 angiotensin II receptor in vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland, leading to vasodilation and reduced aldosterone secretion. S-Amlodipine is the S-enantiomer of amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker (CCB), which inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, resulting in relaxation of blood vessels. The combination provides better blood pressure control than either agent alone by targeting different mechanisms involved in hypertension[1][2][5].
