TeloHep is a telomerase-based mRNA therapeutic being developed by Rejuvenation Technologies for the treatment of chronic liver disease. The drug utilizes modified mRNA encoding telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) encapsulated in proprietary lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) to target liver cells. Once delivered, the mRNA is translated into the TERT protein, which temporarily activates the telomerase enzyme to extend shortened telomeres and restore cellular regenerative capacity. The therapy is designed to be transient, with the mRNA and protein degrading within a short period to minimize safety risks associated with permanent telomerase expression. Rejuvenation Technologies has received NIH funding to advance this platform for liver conditions, including alcoholic hepatitis.
