Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Telomir-Ag1 is a Silver(I)-based antimicrobial drug candidate developed by Telomir Pharmaceuticals. It was designed as part of the company's proprietary platform to address bacterial infections, including those caused by drug-resistant pathogens. As a stabilized Silver(I) compound, its mechanism of action is presumed to involve disruption of bacterial cell membranes and interference with essential microbial enzymes and DNA replication through silver ion activity. However, in preclinical studies, it has been outperformed by the next-generation Silver(II) compound, Telomir-Ag2, particularly against methicillin- and aminoglycoside-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MARSA). The primary indication for Telomir-Ag1 was broad-spectrum antibacterial therapy targeting resistant bacteria[3].
