Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Telomir-Ag2 is a novel, stabilized Silver(II) complex developed by Telomir Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of bacterial infections, including those caused by drug-resistant pathogens. Leveraging the proprietary Telomir-1 chelation platform, this compound overcomes the historical instability of Silver(II), enabling its use as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent. In preclinical studies, Telomir-Ag2 demonstrated potent activity against a range of bacteria—including *Escherichia coli*, *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*, *Enterococcus faecalis*, and both methicillin-resistant and aminoglycoside-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MARSA). The compound outperformed Silver(I) analogs in minimum inhibitory concentration assays and does not contain sulfa-based compounds, reducing allergic and cytotoxic risks. Its mechanism involves multiple antibacterial actions typical of silver ions—disrupting membranes, binding proteins/DNA, and generating reactive oxygen species—with enhanced oxidative capacity due to its Silver(II) state. The primary development focus is on topical applications for burn wounds, surgical infection prevention, and hospital-acquired infection control[1][2][6].
