Telpefilgrastim is a recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) analog, developed as a biosimilar to filgrastim. Like other G-CSF agents, it stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of neutrophil precursors, leading to increased production of neutrophils in the blood. This mechanism helps reduce the incidence and duration of neutropenia (low white blood cell count) in patients undergoing myelosuppressive chemotherapy or bone marrow transplantation, and may also be used for mobilizing hematopoietic progenitor cells for collection by leukapheresis. Telpefilgrastim is designed to closely mimic endogenous G-CSF but is produced using recombinant DNA technology.
