Teludipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB) developed by Shandong Xuanzhu Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Sihuan Pharmaceutical, for the treatment of mild-to-moderate primary hypertension. As a member of the dihydropyridine class, teludipine selectively inhibits L-type voltage-gated calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle cells. This inhibition prevents the influx of calcium ions required for muscle contraction, leading to systemic vasodilation and a subsequent reduction in peripheral vascular resistance and blood pressure. Teludipine has undergone extensive clinical evaluation in China, including Phase 3 trials comparing its efficacy and safety to amlodipine besylate, aiming to provide a potent and well-tolerated antihypertensive option.
