TEM8-Fc is a recombinant fusion protein developed by Planet Biotechnology, consisting of the extracellular domain of Tumor Endothelial Marker 8 (TEM8) fused to an Fc immunoglobulin fragment. TEM8, also known as Anthrax Toxin Receptor 1 (ANTXR1), is a cell surface protein that serves as a receptor for the anthrax toxin produced by *Bacillus anthracis*. TEM8-Fc is designed to act as a soluble decoy receptor that competitively binds to the Protective Antigen (PA) component of the anthrax toxin. By sequestering PA, the fusion protein prevents the formation of the toxin complex on host cell surfaces and the subsequent translocation of lethal and edema factors into the cytoplasm. The drug is currently in the preclinical stage, with research-grade protein available for study.
