Overview

TempSLE (temperature-sensitive liquid embolic agent) is a medical agent designed for embolization procedures. It functions as a liquid embolic agent, meaning it is injected into blood vessels to block blood flow. Its temperature-sensitive property likely allows for controlled solidification or behavior within the body. It has been investigated for use in prostatic artery embolization (PAE) for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), where it is combined with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) microspheres to induce prostate necrosis. Additionally, TempSLE has been explored as a drug delivery system, capable of loading and releasing chemotherapy drugs like oxaliplatin, for transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) in conditions such as gastric cancer, where it effectively inhibits tumor cell proliferation and angiogenesis.
