Overview

This molecular therapy, developed by Medicofarma Biotech, is an investigational treatment targeting breast and ovarian cancers. The therapy works by inhibiting the expression of tenascin-C (TNC), a large hexameric glycoprotein found in the extracellular matrix. TNC is typically absent or present at low levels in adult tissues but is significantly upregulated in the stroma of various tumors, where it promotes cell proliferation, migration, angiogenesis, and immune evasion. By utilizing a molecular approach—likely RNA interference (RNAi)—to silence TNC expression, this therapy aims to modify the tumor microenvironment and suppress cancer progression. It is currently in the preclinical development stage at the company's RNA Research and Development Center in Poznań, Poland.
