Overview

Tenatoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) drug candidate developed by Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma. It was designed to treat conditions like reflux oesophagitis and peptic ulcers. Tenatoprazole has an imidazopyridine ring instead of the benzimidazole moiety found in other PPIs, giving it a longer half-life compared to other drugs in its class. It works by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme in gastric parietal cells, thereby reducing stomach acid secretion.
