TenecteRel is a recombinant thrombolytic agent developed and marketed by Reliance Life Sciences in India. It is a biosimilar of tenecteplase, a third-generation tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) variant produced using recombinant DNA technology in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells. Tenecteplase is a 527 amino acid glycoprotein with specific amino acid substitutions in the kringle-1 and protease domains that confer high fibrin specificity and increased resistance to plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1). Its mechanism of action involves binding to fibrin-bound plasminogen and converting it to plasmin, which then degrades fibrin clots. TenecteRel is indicated for the reduction of mortality associated with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and is administered intravenously as a weight-based single bolus dose over five seconds.
