Overview

Teneligliptin + glimepiride is a fixed-dose combination of two oral antidiabetic agents used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Teneligliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases incretin levels (GLP-1 and GIP), thereby enhancing insulin secretion and suppressing glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner[5][6]. Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea that stimulates pancreatic beta cells to secrete insulin by closing ATP-sensitive potassium channels on the cell membrane[2][8]. The combination improves glycemic control through complementary mechanisms—teneligliptin enhances endogenous incretin action while glimepiride directly stimulates insulin release. This combination is primarily indicated for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus who require additional glycemic control beyond diet, exercise, or monotherapy[3].
