Teneligliptin + insulin is a combination therapy for type 2 diabetes mellitus that utilizes two pharmacological approaches: teneligliptin, an oral small molecule dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, and insulin, a peptide hormone administered by injection. Teneligliptin works by inhibiting DPP-4, which increases incretin hormone levels (GLP-1 and GIP), thereby enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion and decreasing glucagon release, resulting in improved glycemic control. Insulin therapy directly increases plasma insulin levels to facilitate glucose uptake, particularly in patients with significant beta-cell dysfunction or advanced diabetes. Clinical studies demonstrate that adding teneligliptin to insulin therapy significantly improves various glycemic parameters (HbA1c, fasting and postprandial glucose, glycemic variability) without a significant increase in hypoglycemia risk, and is generally well tolerated[2][3][5]. This combination is used in adults with type 2 diabetes who require additional glycemic control beyond monotherapy or lifestyle modification.
