Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tengfu Jiangya tablets (TJT) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is formulated from *Uncaria rhynchophylla* (Gouteng) and *Semen Raphani* (Laifuzi), with the main active components being Uncaria total alkaloids (such as rhynchophylline and isorhynchophylline) and Semen Raphani soluble alkaloids (mainly sinapine thiocyanate). TJT is primarily indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, particularly in patients presenting with liver yang hyperactivity syndrome. It is thought to exert its antihypertensive effects by restoring nitric oxide (NO) production, ameliorating vascular inflammatory states, and regulating pathways such as the kallikrein-kinin system, lipid metabolism, and PPARγ signaling.
