Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TENGPURE-M is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed by Acinom Healthcare for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It contains two active small molecule ingredients: teneligliptin and metformin. Teneligliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that works by preventing the degradation of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), which in turn stimulates insulin secretion and inhibits glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. Metformin, a biguanide, complements this action by decreasing hepatic glucose production, reducing intestinal glucose absorption, and improving insulin sensitivity via the activation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). As a generic formulation, TENGPURE-M provides a cost-effective option for dual-therapy management of hyperglycemia.
