Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TenofoBell is a branded formulation of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, an oral nucleotide analogue reverse transcriptase inhibitor (nRTI) used in combination antiretroviral therapy for HIV-1 infection and for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. As a prodrug of tenofovir, it is converted intracellularly to tenofovir diphosphate, which competitively inhibits HIV-1 reverse transcriptase and hepatitis B virus polymerase, causing DNA chain termination and suppression of viral replication. The product is positioned as a generic or regional brand of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate for use in standard HIV and HBV treatment regimens.
