Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate + emtricitabine + lopinavir + ritonavir is an oral four-antiretroviral co-administration regimen for **HIV-1 infection**. It combines the nucleoside and nucleotide reverse-transcriptase inhibitors emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate with lopinavir, an HIV-1 protease inhibitor, and ritonavir, which inhibits CYP3A-mediated lopinavir metabolism to pharmacokinetically boost lopinavir exposure. The regimen is generally supplied as separate products: emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate as Truvada and lopinavir/ritonavir as Kaletra, rather than as a single four-drug fixed-dose product. The exact regimen was evaluated in antiretroviral-naive adults in the PROGRESS study. ([clinicaltrials.gov](https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT00711009))
