TenoMiR is a chemically synthesized mimic of microRNA-29a (miR29a) developed as a microRNA replacement therapy for tendinopathy, including conditions such as lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow). It is designed to restore miR29a levels in injured tendons, directly targeting the key changes in collagen production that underlie tendon degeneration. By restoring normal collagen synthesis and organization, TenoMiR aims to promote tendon healing and regeneration. The drug has demonstrated improved stability, activity, and cellular uptake while being non-immunogenic. In preclinical models and early clinical trials (Phase 1b), single local injections of TenoMiR have shown safety and efficacy in improving tendon structure. A Phase 2 multicenter clinical trial is ongoing to further evaluate its efficacy and safety in patients with lateral epicondylitis[1][2][6][7].
