Tenonitrozole

Tenonitrozole is an antiprotozoal small molecule drug primarily used for the treatment of urogenital trichomoniasis. It is administered orally at a typical dose of 250 mg twice daily with meals for four days. Both sexual partners are recommended to be treated simultaneously to prevent reinfection[1][4]. Tenonitrozole belongs to the nitrothiazole class and acts by disrupting protozoan metabolic processes; its precise mechanism of action remains under investigation but may involve interference with energy metabolism or DNA synthesis in protozoa[6][8]. The presence of a nitro group in its structure is believed to contribute significantly to its chemotherapeutic activity[8]. In addition to activity against *Trichomonas vaginalis*, it has shown inhibitory effects on *Giardia* species and some antifungal properties *in vitro*[1][8].
