Overview

Tenoten is an anxiolytic and antidepressant medication based on technologically processed (ultra-low dose) antibodies to the S100 protein, a brain-specific protein involved in neuronal plasticity and neuroinflammation. It is indicated for the treatment of anxiety disorders, neurotic and stress-related disorders, somatoform disorders, adjustment disorders, moderate cognitive impairment, psychosomatic illnesses with emotional instability or irritability, memory loss, vegetative symptoms, as well as specific developmental disorders of academic skills in children[1][2][4][7]. The mechanism of action involves modulation of S100 protein conformation and function—considered a pathological link in anxiety states—and activation of the mitogen-activated ERK kinase cascade[6]. Tenoten exhibits GABA-mimetic and neurotrophic effects that enhance stress-limiting systems and support neuronal plasticity[5]. Unlike benzodiazepines or tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline), it does not cause sedation or muscle relaxation nor lead to tolerance or withdrawal syndrome[1][2]. Developed by Materia Medica Holding in Russia.
