Developed by Jinghua Pharmaceutical, it is primarily utilized as a pharmaceutical intermediate or refined active ingredient for the production of tenoxicam-based medications. Like the parent compound, tenoxicam potassium acts by non-selectively inhibiting the enzymes cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), thereby blocking the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate pain, fever, and inflammation.
