Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tenoxicam potassium salt is a potassium salt form of tenoxicam, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) belonging to the oxicam class. Developed by Jinghua Pharmaceutical, it is primarily utilized as a pharmaceutical intermediate or refined active ingredient for the production of tenoxicam-based medications. Like the parent compound, tenoxicam potassium acts by non-selectively inhibiting the enzymes cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), thereby blocking the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate pain, fever, and inflammation. It is indicated for the management of inflammatory and degenerative disorders of the musculoskeletal system, such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis.
