Overview

Tenuifoliside A is a bioactive oligosaccharide ester isolated from the roots of *Polygala tenuifolia*, a traditional Chinese medicinal plant. It exhibits anti-apoptotic, neuroprotective, and antidepressant-like effects. Mechanistically, Tenuifoliside A promotes neuronal survival and neurite outgrowth by activating the ERK/CREB/BDNF signaling pathway and enhancing phosphorylation of ERK (extracellular signal-regulated kinase), Akt (protein kinase B), and CREB (cyclic AMP response element-binding protein). Its anti-inflammatory activity is mediated through inhibition of the NF-κB and MAPK pathways. Preclinical studies suggest potential for use in depressive disorders and neuroprotection[1][2][4][7][8].
