Tenuin A is a naturally occurring phenanthrene monomer isolated from the plant *Juncus tenuis* (slender rush). Discovered as part of a phytochemical investigation into the Juncaceae family, it is one of several newly identified phenanthrenes evaluated for potential antineoplastic properties. In preclinical in vitro studies, tenuin A was tested for antiproliferative activity against human colorectal adenocarcinoma cell lines, including doxorubicin-sensitive (COLO 205) and doxorubicin-resistant (COLO 320) cells. While it belongs to a class of compounds known for diverse biological activities, its specific molecular targets and therapeutic potential are currently under academic investigation, particularly in the context of overcoming multidrug resistance in cancer therapy.
