Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tequatrovirus V1EC23 + Vectrevirus V1EC44 is a synergistic bacteriophage combination being developed for the clearance of intestinal colonization by multidrug-resistant and carbapenemase-producing Escherichia coli ST131. The combination consists of two virulent phages: Tequatrovirus V1EC23 (TQV-V1EC23), which targets the outer membrane protein Tsx, and Vectrevirus V1EC44 (VCV-V1EC44), which targets the bacterial capsule. This dual-targeting mechanism provides complementary host range coverage and creates evolutionary trade-offs, where resistance to one phage increases sensitivity to the other, preventing the emergence of resistance and enabling effective eradication of E. coli ST131 colonization.
