Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tesalin N is a phytopharmaceutical herbal medicinal product developed and manufactured by Max Zeller Söhne AG (Zeller Medical AG). The active ingredient is Ze 339, a standardized CO2 extract derived from the leaves of *Petasites hybridus* (butterbur), which is standardized to contain 8 mg of petasins per tablet. The product is indicated for the treatment of intermittent (seasonal) allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and associated symptoms affecting the eyes, nose, and throat. Tesalin N exhibits anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting the synthesis of leukotrienes and the release of inflammatory mediators. It was first approved in Switzerland in 2003 and transitioned from prescription to non-prescription (OTC) status in 2018.
