tesamorelin

Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of human growth hormone-releasing factor (GHRH), also known as growth hormone-releasing hormone (GRF). It is primarily used to reduce excess abdominal fat in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. Tesamorelin acts by binding to GHRH receptors on pituitary somatotroph cells, stimulating the synthesis and pulsatile release of endogenous growth hormone (GH). This leads to increased levels of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and promotes both anabolic and lipolytic effects, resulting in reduced visceral adipose tissue. The drug was developed by Theratechnologies and is marketed under the brand names Egrifta and Egrifta SV[1][2][3][4][5][6][8].
