Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Testosterone enantate benzilic acid hydrazone is a synthetic androgen and anabolic steroid, classified as an androgen ester. It is the C17β enantate (heptanoate) ester and C3 benzilic acid hydrazone derivative of testosterone. Administered by intramuscular injection, it acts as a long-lasting prodrug of testosterone. After administration, it is slowly hydrolyzed to release active testosterone, which binds to the **androgen receptor (AR)** and modulates gene expression to produce anabolic and androgenic effects. Its unique structure with a benzilic acid hydrazone group confers prolonged activity compared to other esters[1][6]. The compound has been used in combination hormone preparations for indications such as male hypogonadism[2][6].
