Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tetana is an approved monovalent tetanus vaccine developed and manufactured by IBSS Biomed S.A. (Biomed-Lublin) in Poland. The vaccine contains purified tetanus toxoid, which is obtained through the formaldehyde inactivation of the tetanus toxin derived from *Clostridium tetani* bacterial cultures. The toxoid is adsorbed onto an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant to enhance the immune response. Tetana works by inducing the production of protective anti-tetanus toxin antibodies, providing active immunity against tetanus. It is indicated for the active immunization of children, adolescents, and adults, including its use in national immunization programs, as a booster dose, in unvaccinated pregnant women, and for active-passive prevention in cases of contaminated wounds at high risk of infection.
