Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids vaccine (Td) is a combination vaccine used for active immunization to prevent infections caused by *Clostridium tetani* (tetanus) and *Corynebacterium diphtheriae* (diphtheria). The vaccine contains inactivated toxins (toxoids) from both bacteria that stimulate the immune system to produce protective antibodies without causing disease. It is indicated for use in adults and children at least 7 years old. The mechanism of action involves induction of immunity through exposure to the detoxified bacterial toxins, leading to antibody production that neutralizes the effects of natural infection[1][3][5][8].
