Tetanus immune globulin is a human-derived polyclonal antibody preparation containing high titers of antibodies against the tetanus toxin. It provides immediate passive immunity by neutralizing unbound tetanus toxin in individuals at risk for or with suspected exposure to *Clostridium tetani*. The drug is used both for post-exposure prophylaxis in patients with wounds at high risk of developing tetanus (especially those not fully vaccinated) and as part of the treatment regimen for active tetanus infection, typically alongside antibiotics and muscle relaxants. Tetanus immune globulin does not confer long-term immunity; it offers short-term protection until the patient’s own immune system can respond to vaccination. The product is manufactured from pooled human plasma collected from donors immunized with tetanus toxoid[1][3][5][8].
