Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IG-Tet (also known as Ig Tetano) is a human tetanus immunoglobulin preparation containing high titers of antibodies (mainly IgG) against the tetanus toxin produced by *Clostridium tetani*. It is used for passive immunization to provide immediate, short-term protection against tetanus. The primary indications include post-exposure prophylaxis after tetanus-prone injuries in individuals who are unvaccinated, incompletely vaccinated, or whose immunization status is uncertain, as well as the treatment of clinically manifest tetanus. IG-Tet is administered via intramuscular injection and works by binding to and neutralizing unbound tetanus toxin, preventing it from entering the nervous system and causing severe muscle spasms or autonomic dysfunction. The product is manufactured by Kedrion and distributed in the Philippines by New Marketlink Pharmaceutical.
