Overview
Td vaccine SSI is a combination biologic product developed by **Statens Serum Institut (SSI)** for active immunization against tetanus and diphtheria. It contains purified **tetanus toxoid** and a reduced dose of **diphtheria toxoid**, adsorbed onto aluminum hydroxide as an adjuvant. The vaccine is primarily indicated for booster vaccination in adolescents and adults to maintain protective antibody levels against the toxins produced by *Clostridium tetani* and *Corynebacterium diphtheriae*. In clinical development, Td vaccine SSI has served as a standard reference comparator for evaluating the immunogenicity and safety of newer acellular pertussis-containing combination vaccines (TdaP), demonstrating non-inferiority in eliciting seroprotective antitoxin levels.
