Overview
Tetanus toxoid + diphtheria toxoid + pertussis vaccine is a combination immunization used to protect against three serious bacterial diseases: tetanus (lockjaw), diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough). The formulation contains inactivated toxins (toxoids) from *Clostridium tetani* (tetanus) and *Corynebacterium diphtheriae* (diphtheria), as well as acellular components of *Bordetella pertussis*. The mechanism of action involves stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against these pathogens, thereby providing active immunity. This combination is available in different formulations for various age groups—DTaP for children under 7 years old, Tdap for older children, adolescents, adults, and pregnant women. It is primarily indicated for the prevention of these three diseases through routine vaccination schedules[1][2][4][8].
