Tetanus toxoid alum precipitated is a vaccine formulation designed to provide active immunity against tetanus, a serious disease caused by the toxin-producing bacterium *Clostridium tetani*. The vaccine contains tetanus toxoid—a chemically inactivated form of the tetanus toxin—which is adsorbed onto an aluminum-based adjuvant (alum) to enhance the immune response and prolong the duration of protection. Upon administration, the vaccine stimulates the production of specific antitoxin antibodies that neutralize the tetanus toxin, thereby preventing the clinical manifestations of the disease. Adimmune (formerly Kuo Kwang Biotechnology) is developing this specific alum-precipitated formulation, which is currently in the registration phase (NDA/BLA) for the prevention of tetanus.
