Tetanus toxoid helper peptide is a synthetic peptide derived from the tetanus toxin protein sequence (commonly residues 830–843). It functions as a universal human T cell epitope and is widely used as an immunological adjuvant in vaccine formulations. Its primary mechanism is to induce robust CD4+ helper T cell responses by binding to class II MHC molecules, thereby enhancing the immune response to co-administered antigens. This property makes it valuable in cancer vaccines and other therapeutic vaccines where strong cellular immunity is desired. The peptide itself does not confer protection against tetanus but serves as an immunopotentiator for other vaccine components[2][4][6][8][9].
