Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tetanus Vaccine SSI is a monovalent tetanus toxoid vaccine originally produced by Statens Serum Institut (SSI), a Danish public health and biopharmaceutical company, and currently manufactured by AJ Vaccines. Its active ingredient is a formaldehyde-inactivated Clostridium tetani toxoid, which stimulates the immune system to produce protective antibodies against tetanus toxin. It is indicated for active immunization against tetanus (lockjaw). In clinical trials, such as a Phase 4 Swedish study sponsored by Örebro Läns Landsting, Tetanus Vaccine SSI has been evaluated as a separate-component reference vaccine to restore vaccine-acquired immunity lost following autologous or allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
