Overview

Tetra DIIIC is a tetravalent recombinant protein vaccine candidate developed by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) in Havana, Cuba, for the prevention of dengue fever. The vaccine utilizes a unique platform of chimeric proteins that fuse domain III of the envelope protein with the capsid protein from all four dengue virus serotypes (DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4). This design is intended to induce both neutralizing antibodies and a robust cellular immune response against all four serotypes simultaneously, aiming to reduce viral load and prevent severe disease. As of 2023, the candidate is in the evaluation phase, with its technological platform validated as safe.
