Tetrachlorodecaoxide is a chlorite-based small molecule drug with immunomodulatory and macrophage-activating properties. It is primarily used as a topical or intravenous agent for the treatment of chronic wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure sores, leg ulcers, burns, and complicated post-operative wounds. It is also indicated in the management of radiation cystitis. The mechanism of action involves activation of the macrophage system and increasing the partial pressure of oxygen in wound tissue, which promotes healing by breaking hypoxia cycles and supporting phagocytic activity. Tetrachlorodecaoxide exhibits antimicrobial effects against various gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria as well as yeast. Preclinical evidence suggests potential applications in cancer therapy (notably pancreatic cancer) via immunomodulation[1][2][3][5][6][8].
