Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination therapy consisting of three active pharmaceutical ingredients: - **Tetracycline** (a broad-spectrum antibiotic in the tetracycline class) - **Furazolidone** (a nitrofuran antibiotic with activity against bacteria and protozoa) - **Vonoprazan fumarate** (a novel potassium-competitive acid blocker, or P-CAB, that potently inhibits gastric acid secretion). The combination is used primarily for the eradication of *Helicobacter pylori* infection, especially in cases where resistance to other antibiotics or previous treatment failures have occurred. Vonoprazan enhances the efficacy of antibiotics by maintaining a higher intragastric pH, which improves antibiotic stability and activity. Tetracycline and furazolidone act as direct antibacterial agents against *H. pylori*. This regimen is considered particularly useful in regions with high rates of clarithromycin or metronidazole resistance, or when penicillin allergy precludes amoxicillin use[1][2][5].
