Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This THC-rich cannabis oil is a sublingual formulation containing 20% delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), manufactured by Panaxia Pharmaceutical Industries and evaluated by the Tel-Aviv Sourasky Medical Center. It is specifically developed for the management of chronic neuropathic pain, including lumbar radicular pain. As a small molecule cannabinoid, it functions as an agonist at the Cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and Cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2). Clinical study NCT02560545 showed that the oil significantly reduces pain scores and alters functional connectivity between the anterior cingulate cortex and sensorimotor cortex, while also enhancing parasympathetic activity and conditioned pain modulation.
